For this home renovation project, the owners wanted a welcoming focal point for large gatherings of family and grandchildren, opened and modernised for ease of living while maintaining original character. 

With the front entrance situated to the side of the home, the removal of an old timber awning allowed light to flow into the entry and central area. The upgraded front pathway and gardens lend a warm, inviting feel on approach to the residence.

The original interior layout hindered the flow of light and circulation through the home. The removal of dividing walls and larger doorways achieves a calming sense of space and flow between rooms. A portion of the staircase was removed and redesigned to match the existing aesthetic while eliminating the discordance of height differences between floor levels and drawing attention to the high ceilings.  

The four large, light-filled bedrooms are designed for luxurious, comfortable repose. The master bedroom has a walk-in-wardrobe, a superbly spacious ensuite and access to the balcony.  A second master suite contains an ensuite, built-in wardrobes, a study/sunroom. Two further bedrooms both have built in wardrobes and one with balcony access.

No longer constrained by the old dividing walls, the open plan kitchen, informal dining and living area have bifold doors opening onto huge gardens and a poolside entertainment space. A dual servery provides convenient access from inside and out, allowing effortless functionality for large gatherings.

With small grandchildren it was essential for the pool to be fully compliant. The pool fencing provides safety without disrupting the connection to the garden and entertaining area. Poolside seating enables adults to watch their children in the water.
